Need to get that old horse to gain some weight ?

By admin • November 28th, 2010

I have found that my older horses do much better on a pellet feed.  An older horse often has a hard time chewing their hay and you will most likely start seeing it show up in the form of chewed up clumps, laying around where they graze or in their water bucket.  Even after a teeth floating.  We highly recommend feeding a Senior Feed or pelleted 100 % balanced feed.  In addition, you can add a little bit of water to make it soft and more digestible if needed, which is also great for hydration.  You will notice a change with in days !!  Dont forget on the older horses, adding a blanket on cold days will also result in a healthier horse keeping more of their weight on.
